It seems like a sparse schedule is the new norm for Tiger Woods.

After withdrawing from the Hero World Challenge on Monday due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot, the 82-time TOUR winner told the media Tuesday he's only planning to play in four or five events next year.

"The goal is to play just the major championships and maybe one or two more. Physically, that's all I can do," Woods said, per CBS Sports HQ. "I don't have much left in this leg."

The 46-year-old has played just three official TOUR events since his February 2021 car accident: the 2022 Masters, PGA Championship, and Open Championship. He hasn't played a tournament in over four months.

Despite Woods' absences from the TOUR, the 15-time major winner has remained vocal about issues in the golf world.

In particular, he echoed Rory McIlroy's comments regarding the possibility of a meeting between the TOUR and LIV Golf.

"Greg (Norman) has to go, first of all," Woods said Tuesday, per Golf Magazine's Sean Zak.

Woods also lauded McIlroy for his stance against LIV Golf's CEO and largely becoming the face of players choosing to stay loyal to the TOUR.

"What Rory has said and done is what leaders do," Woods said, per CBS' Kyle Porter. "Rory is the true leader out here on TOUR. The fact that he's able to ... be so clearminded and eloquent and, meanwhile, go out there and win tournaments. People have no idea how hard that is to do."

While neither McIlroy nor Woods will participate in this week's Hero World Challenge, the pair is set to play together in The Match on Dec. 10. Woods and McIlroy will square off against fellow major champions Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.

Additionally, Woods said in his withdrawal announcement Monday that he also still plans to play in the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, later in December.
