Tim Tebow's early absence from the New York Mets' lineup this spring is the result of a sprinkler-related injury.

The 30-year-old was held out of the club's first two games after spraining his ankle tripping on a sprinkler head in the outfield, according to James Wagner of the New York Times. The injury isn't believed to be serious, however, and Tebow was able to participate in batting practice Sunday and is considered day to day.

Tebow is in major-league camp as a non-roster player after hitting .226/.309/.347 with eight home runs, 24 doubles, and 126 strikeouts in 126 games in Single-A last season.
