Report: Twins, Morrison agree to 1-year, $6.5M deal

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Twins have landed some much-needed power in the middle of the order.

Free-agent first baseman Logan Morrison reportedly agreed to a one-year, $6.5-million deal with the Twins on Sunday, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. The contract includes escalators and a vesting option that could make it a two-year, $16.5-million deal.

Morrison is coming off a career year with the Tampa Bay Rays in which he hit .246/.353/.516 with 38 home runs, 22 doubles, 85 RBIs, and 149 strikeouts from the left side of the plate.

Morrison offers the Twins some insurance as Miguel Sano recovers from offseason shin surgery while also providing lineup protection once Sanoreturns to health.

Appearing in 126 games at first base last season, Morrison's other 17 appearances came at DH.
