Inter officially wrapped up the signing of Alexis Sanchez on Thursday following more than four months of reported links with the Manchester United flop.

Sanchez joins Antonio Conte's ranks on a season-long loan, but United will reportedly pay €7 million of the Chilean's €12-million annual salary while he's playing in Serie A.

The two clubs completed a deal despite hitting several snags during negotiations, including Inter's apparent reluctance to cover most of Sanchez's wages and Manchester United's reported concerns about a lack of attacking cover in the wake of Anthony Martial's injury.

Sanchez, 30, is the second player to switch Old Trafford for Inter this summer after Romelu Lukaku moved for around £70 million earlier in August. Lukaku left United with a slightly damaged reputation following a modest 12-goal haul during the 2018-19 Premier League season, but Sanchez was in a worse predicament after being afforded just nine starts in England's top flight last term.

Inter may represent Sanchez's final chance to revive his form from Arsenal and Udinese. He struck up a fine understanding with Antonio Di Natale when he last plied his trade in Italy, with the pair's 40 combined goals lifting Udinese into fourth place in Serie A at the end of the 2010-11 campaign.

Sanchez left for Barcelona that summer, but didn't consistently display the explosiveness that defined his Udinese spell until joining Arsenal in 2014. He netted 24 times over the 2016-17 season, but his form dipped the following campaign when he became unsettled.

His performances certainly didn't pick up after he joined United in January 2018; Sanchez scored three league goals for the Red Devils in just over a year and a half with the club.
