Owen Power netted three goals, including a pair of power-play markers in a span of under two minutes, as Canada overcame an early deficit to defeat Czechia 6-3 at the World Junior Championship on Sunday.

Power became the first Canadian defenseman ever to notch a hat trick at the tournament. He scored once in the first period before adding two more in the second.

Czechia jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the opening frame on Stanislav Svozil's highlight-reel goal, but Canada responded twice before the intermission, including Donovan Sebrango's marker with 29 seconds remaining.

Olen Zellweger added an insurance goal in the third period after Power's pair put Canada up 5-3.

Cole Perfetti collected three assists, while Mason McTavish produced a goal and an assist of his own in the victory. Canada outshot Czechia 36-17.

Czechia will face Germany on Monday, while Canada's next game is against Austria on Tuesday.

The NHL's Buffalo Sabres selected Power first overall in this year's draft.
