The WNBA has announced the newly relocated Las Vegas team will be called the Aces. It also debuted the team's new logo, with visual motifs evocative of the city's strong ties to the casino industry.

The league announced in October that the former San Antonio Stars franchise would relocate to Sin City in time for the 2018 season.

Kayla McBride, the team's leading scorer in each of the past four seasons, declared her excitement about the new digs.

This is the second relocation in the franchise's history. The organization played its first six seasons as the Utah Starzz before moving to San Antonio in 2003. In 15 seasons in Texas, the re-branded Silver Stars/Stars found mixed success, making the playoffs on seven occasions, but posting just four winning records. The high watermark for the franchise was an appearance in the 2008 WNBA Finals, where they suffered a 3-0 series sweep at the hands of the Detroit Shock.
