A record audience tuned in for the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Monday's event drew 2.45 million viewers and peaked at 3.09 million viewers, making it the most-watched WNBA draft ever, ESPN announced. The previous viewership record was 601,000, set in 2004 when Diana Taurasi went No. 1 overall.

The draft attracted the biggest audience for any WNBA telecast since 2000, when 2.74 million viewers watched a Memorial Day game between the New York Liberty and the now-defunct Houston Comets. It was also the most-viewed program of the night among people under 35 years old.

Former Iowa star Caitlin Clark, who became the NCAA's all-time scoring leader in her senior season, was selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever. Stanford's Cameron Brink went to the Los Angeles Sparks with the No. 2 pick, while the Chicago Sky took South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso at No. 3 and LSU's Angel Reese at No. 7.

The 2024 WNBA season will kick off May 14 with four matchups, including Clark's Fever facing the Connecticut Sun.
