A total of 28 players were selected to Canada's Olympic centralization roster back in May. This group of players and staff relocated to Calgary in July in order to prepare for the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship, which took place in August. The Canadians beat the United States 3-2 in the gold-medal game, with roster staple Marie-Philip Poulin delivering the dagger in overtime.

Victoria Bach, Meaghan Mikkelson, and Kristin O’Neill were the team's final three cuts.

The Canadian national team's 2021-22 season also included games against the United States, Junior A clubs from the Alberta Junior Hockey League, and PWHPA all-stars as part of its preparation for Beijing.

Canada's women's team will hit the ice for the first time at the Olympics in a preliminary-round clash against Switzerland on Feb. 3.

Team USA is the defending gold-medal Olympic champion after it bested Canada 3-2 in a shootout in 2018.
