Dwight Howard is eyeing a possible career shift to professional wrestling.

The three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, who's currently a free agent, attended a WWE Tryout event in Nashville on Thursday night and was asked if wrestling could be in his future.

"I think it is something that's in my future," Howard told ESPN's Arash Markazi. "I love the WWE. I love wrestling, I love being part of something that's going to build up our kids, their character, and stuff like that ... hopefully one day in the future, I'll actually be in the ring wrestling and holding up a belt. That would be amazing."

The 36-year-old said he's serious about joining WWE and was seen asking coaches and attendees at Thursday's tryout how to do various moves, including taking a bump in the ring, according to Markazi. He'll also attend WWE SummerSlam in Nashville on Saturday.

Howard spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in 60 games.
