Malone has last laugh 3 years after Kings canned him: 'You were wrong'

Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone watches the never-ending spiral toward rock bottom that is the Sacramento Kings with glee.

He does so with good reason. Malone had the Kings on the right track in 2014 but they strangely decided to fire him. Their reasoning was that Malone had the Kings playing too slow, so they instead hired an up-tempo coach in George Karl that brought about his own set of headaches.

Flash forward to 2017: Karl was uprooted, Cousins was dumped for pennies on the dollar, and now Malone's new team ranks in the top 10 in points per game, offensive rating, and pace.

"I can't remember all the things that were said when I was fired because there was so much being said. I know one of the things that was being said was style of play. There were people that were not in my corner that used that as a way to get me fired. Now we're one of the highest-scoring teams in the NBA. I look at you people, you were wrong."

It's hard to argue with anything Malone is saying, because even Kings fans know he's right. Sacramento was in the wrong for firing him, although that mistake is just a drop in the bucket for the Kings over the past decade.
