Top story: The Sesko squabble

Manchester United are confident that Benjamin Sesko will choose to join them over Newcastle United after they submitted a bid worth €75 million plus €10 million in add-ons for the Slovenian striker. Newcastle aren't giving up on Sesko after their initial offer of €75 million plus €5 million in bonuses fell short of RB Leipzig's valuation, and have lodged a second approach worth at least €80 million.

Leipzig are yet to respond to Manchester United's offer for Sesko. The 22-year-old's contract in Saxony runs until 2029. He's recorded 39 goals and eight assists in 87 appearances across all competitions since joining Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023. (The Athletic)
