Lyon fan banned for life for giving Nazi salute after City triumph
Lyon vowed to ban a supporter for life after footage emerged on social media of a traveling fan giving a Nazi salute during the French team's victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The gesture was recorded as Lyon fans were held behind while home supporters left the stadium after Wednesday's 2-1 triumph.
After catching wind of the footage, the Ligue 1 outfit condemned the action and ensured that appropriate measures will be taken against the suspect.
"Olympique Lyonnais has seen a video that has circulated on social networks," the club said in a statement, as translated by the Guardian. "The supporter in question is being identified by the services of Olympique Lyonnais. As soon as he is identified, he will be excluded for life at Groupama Stadium and travel for club matches."
Police have also opened an investigation into the "abhorrent behavior" of the unidentified man.
Lyon have announced that the fan who did the Nazi salute after the game will get a lifetime stadium ban.

"This is being treated as a hate crime and inquiries are ongoing," the Greater Manchester police said.
"This is absolutely abhorrent behavior and it has no place in our community and no place in sport," chief inspector Gareth Parkin said. "We are committed to policing racism at football matches, and hate crimes of any sort will simply not be tolerated. We will be working closely with French police and both clubs to identify the person responsible."
