Liverpool are determined to hold on to Xherdan Shaqiri in their quest for silverware this season, as the Reds rejected loan offers from Roma and Sevilla for the 28-year-old, according to Chris Bascombe of The Telegraph.

Officials from both Roma and Sevilla were turned down after reaching out to the Premier League leaders in an effort to procure the services of Shaqiri, whose contract at the Merseyside outfit runs until 2023, during the winter signing period.

While it's understood that Liverpool could be open to allowing him to leave in the summer when they review his situation at the club, Bascombe reports that a successful bid for Shaqiri could cost interested clubs up to €30 million.

Liverpool have a comfortable 16-point lead atop the Premier League and are believed to be averse to reducing their squad during the second half of the season when they'll also compete in the Champions League and FA Cup.

Shaqiri, who joined the Reds from Stoke City 18 months ago for £13.5 million, has been limited to 10 appearances and one goal in all competitions this season.
