Dodgers to start Hill in Game 2, Darvish in Game 3 of WS
After the Los Angeles Dodgers announced left-hander Clayton Kershaw would start Game 1 of the World Series immediately after the team won the NLCS, manager Dave Roberts lined up his starters Sunday for the next three games.
Roberts announced southpaw Rich Hill will take the mound in Game 2, with right-hander Yu Darvish slated for Game 3, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
Alex Wood will pitch in Game 4 of the series, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times later reported.
The Astros and manager A.J. Hinch have only revealed their starters for Games 1 and 2. Dallas Keuchel gets Tuesday's opener opposite Kershaw, leaving Justin Verlander to square off against Hill on Wednesday.
Hill, 37, has pitched well during the postseason, tossing nine innings across two starts in the NLDS and NLCS. He's allowed just six hits and three earned runs.
The 31-year-old Darvish has been just as effective. He's pitched 11 1/3 innings across the same two series and allowed a combined eight hits and two earned runs while striking out 14.
Wood didn't appear in the NLDS and had a rough start against the Cubs in the NLCS. He allowed three earned runs across 4 2/3 innings, although he did strike out seven hitters.
