The Houston Astros have agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent catcher Dustin Garneau, the team announced Tuesday.

Garneau, 32, spent last season with the Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Angels. The five-year veteran posted a .757 OPS with three home runs in 35 contests.

The Astros are looking for help behind the plate this offseason, as their backstop duo of Robinson Chirinos and Martin Maldonado are both free agents.

The New York Mets are rumored to be interested in Chirinos, who hit 17 homers in 114 games for Houston during 2019.
