Alex Wood is returning to Hollywood.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached an agreement on a one-year, $4-million contract with the free-agent left-hander, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Incentives can push his total earnings in 2020 to $10 million.

Wood has passed his physical and the deal is done, according to Rosenthal. Although the Dodgers have yet to officially announce it, Wood - who's celebrating his 29th birthday Sunday - confirmed the agreement on Twitter.

Wood pitched for the Dodgers from 2015-18, emerging as a staple of their rotation during that span while contributing to multiple playoff and pennant-winning teams. He earned his lone All-Star berth as a Dodger in 2017, a season in which he posted a career-best 2.72 ERA and 1.06 WHIP along with 151 strikeouts in just 152 1/3 innings.

The highlight of his first Dodgers stint came in Game 4 of the 2017 World Series when he allowed just one run over 5 2/3 innings on the road against the Houston Astros.

Los Angeles traded Wood to the Cincinnati Reds last winter as part of the blockbuster deal that also included Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp, among others. A back injury forced Wood to start 2019 on the injured list and ultimately limited his Reds tenure to just seven starts and a 5.80 ERA.

Health permitting, Wood will head into spring training as one of the front-runners for a spot in the rotation. His competition could include young left-hander Julio Urias, veteran Jimmy Nelson - who was recently signed in free agency - and prospects Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin.

Wood owns a career 53-43 record with a 3.40 ERA (114 ERA+), 1.22 WHIP, 768 strikeouts, and 238 walks across 179 career appearances with the Dodgers, Reds, and Atlanta Braves.
