Report: Red Sox keen to complete halted blockbuster with Dodgers

The Boston Red Sox are focused on getting a deal completed with the Los Angeles Dodgers that would send superstar outfielder Mookie Betts and left-hander David Price to Hollywood, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

No deal is expected before Sunday, and if the Red Sox and Dodgers can't rejig the agreement, it could open the door for other teams to pursue Betts, Feinsand adds. The San Diego Padres were previously engaged with the Red Sox in trade talks for the 2018 AL MVP.

The original trade reported on Tuesday was set to include the Minnesota Twins, who are no longer expected to work out their end of the proposed three-team trade, sources told La Velle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune.

Minnesota hasn't completely backed out yet but has set a deadline of Saturday to resolve its part of the trade, reports MLB Network's Jon Heyman.

The Twins were expected to receive pitcher Kenta Maeda from the Dodgers while sending hard-throwing pitcher Brusdar Graterol to the Red Sox. An issue with Graterol's medical review delayed the transaction, which now appears to be in jeopardy.

At this point, the deal is being held up because Boston wants a second top-10 Twins prospect along with Graterol, which Minnesota isn't willing to give up, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

In addition to Graterol, the Red Sox were also expected to receive outfielder Alex Verdugo from the Dodgers while sending Betts, Price, and cash to Los Angeles.

The uncertainty surrounding the megadeal could also affect the status of another trade involving the Dodgers. Due to the expected addition of Betts and Price, the Dodgers are reportedly set to ship outfielder Joc Pederson and pitcher Ross Stripling to the Los Angeles Angels.
