After going unclaimed on outright waivers, the Minnesota Twins have non-tendered outfielder Eddie Rosario, officially making him a free agent, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic.

Rosario was projected to earn between $8.6 million and $12.9 million in his final year of arbitration this winter, according to MLB Trade Rumors.

The Twins were reportedly shopping Rosario, but no team was willing to take on his arbitration salary. With Rosario reportedly going unclaimed, Minnesota may use that as leverage to negotiate a contract below his arbitration projection, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Rosario hit .257/.316/.476 with 13 homers and three steals over 57 games this past season, earning down-ballot MVP votes for a second consecutive year. He posted a 276/.300/.500 slash line with 32 homers and three stolen bases in 137 games in 2019.
