LSU's Skenes named Most Outstanding Player of College World Series
The best college pitcher in the country, Paul Skenes, proved he was worthy of the title after being named the Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series on Monday.
LSU's ace earned the honor after the Tigers took home their first national championship since 2009 with a dominating 18-4 win over Florida.
Skenes didn't pitch in any of the three finals games but was an integral part of the Tigers getting there. The right-hander struck out 12 in 7 2/3 innings against Tennessee earlier in the tournament, which followed a tremendous regular season where he was 12-2 and struck out 209 in 122 2/3 innings.
The 21-year-old managed to make his presence known in Monday's final despite not pitching. He carried injured teammate Alex Milazzo to the field to celebrate the national championship after Milazzo fractured his shin earlier in the game.

Skenes and teammate Dylan Crews are considered two of the country's top players. Either of them could be selected first overall in the upcoming MLB Entry Draft.
