The Houston Astros are interested in acquiring Tampa Bay Rays All-Star third baseman Isaac Paredes, sources told Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

Houston already has Alex Bregman manning the hot corner. However, the two-time All-Star is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Paredes, who's arbitration-eligible through 2027, has also made 37 starts at first base over his five-year career. This could be important for the Astros, who currently have Jon Singleton playing the position after releasing José Abreu in mid-June.

The Rays are reportedly open to listening to offers for Paredes and plan to be active ahead of the July 30 trade deadline.

The 25-year-old has 15 homers with 51 RBIs and a .798 OPS over 96 games this year. He hit 31 long balls with 98 RBIs and a 137 wRC+ across 143 contests last season.
