Dodgers add Yates on 1-year, $13M deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers and All-Star reliever Kirby Yates agreed to a one-year, $13-million contract, the team announced.

The 37-year-old can earn a $500,000 bonus for pitching in at least 50 games and then another $500,000 for making 55 appearances, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.

Veteran reliever Ryan Brasier was designated for assignment to make room for Yates on the Dodgers' 40-man roster.

Yates authored a career-best 1.17 ERA with 0.83 WHIP, 33 saves, and 85 strikeouts over 61 2/3 innings for the Texas Rangers last season.

The signing of Yates adds to what's already been a tremendous offseason by the defending World Series champions. Los Angeles has also inked Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, Teoscar Hernández, Tanner Scott, Hyeseong Kim, Michael Conforto, and Blake Treinen.
