Beltrán, Jones narrowly miss Hall of Fame induction

Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones are going to have to wait at least another year to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The two former players fell barely short of meeting the requisite votes for induction Tuesday. Meanwhile, the trio of Ichiro Suzuki, CC Sabathia, and Billy Wagner were selected.

Beltrán received 277 votes (70.3%) while Jones was named on 261 ballots (66.2%).

The pair were the only players to receive at least 50% support from the BBWAA but fall short of the 75% threshold required for induction.

Beltrán's support rose nearly 10 percentage points from the 60.9% he received last year. Jones' 66.2% was identical to his total from last year.

This was Beltrán's third year on the ballot, while Jones made his eighth ballot appearance.
