Elly, Gunnar, Skenes named cover athletes for MLB The Show 25

Three of baseball's brightest young stars are coming together to star on the cover for MLB The Show 25.

MLB on Tuesday officially revealed Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds, Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles, and Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates as the latest cover athletes for the popular video game.

It's the first time in the franchise's lengthy history that multiple players have appeared on the same cover.

The news comes after each of the stars staked their claim to the cover Monday, beginning with De Le Cruz on social media.

Henderson disputed De La Cruz's claim hours later, saying he had actually been tabbed to be the cover athlete.

Skenes then entered the conversation to throw another wrench into the mix. Last season's NL Rookie of the Year claimed the cover was his and wanted to "settle this" with De La Cruz and Henderson before the game is released.

MLB The Show 25 is slated to release in March.
