Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Jared Jones underwent right elbow surgery to repair his ulnar collateral ligament Wednesday, the team announced.

Jones is projected to return to full competition in 10-12 months after Dr. Keith Meister performed the operation in Dallas.

The 23-year-old hasn't pitched this season. He was shut down in spring training because of a UCL sprain.

The California native was expected to be a big part of the Pirates' rotation after posting a 4.14 ERA and 9.8 K/9 in 121 2/3 innings during his 2024 rookie campaign.
