Report: Twins picked up Baldelli's 2026 option
Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli is set to return for the 2026 season after his club option was picked up, sources told Dan Hayes of The Athletic.
However, it's unclear when the Twins made the decision, according to Hayes.
Minnesota suffered its 14th loss in the last 17 games after an ugly 11-2 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Mariners on Monday.
President of baseball operations Derek Falvey endorsed Baldelli despite declining to discuss his skipper's contract.
"It's just making sure no one runs away from the work that is right in front of him, and Rocco is not running away from any of the work," Falvey said. "My focus has been on how do I support him with that, because I do believe he's got the players' best interests at heart, and he's trying to figure out how to solve a challenging equation that we're all trying to navigate through.
"He's not alone in that. We're all side by side with him, as is the staff and as our core players. We're trying to figure it out together."
The Twins' pitching staff allowed a whopping 124 runs during the stretch, with opposing teams averaging over seven runs per contest.
