Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero, San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez, and Cincinnati Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott were added to the All-Star Game as injury replacements, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday.
Caminero replaces Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman on the American League roster, while Suarez takes over a spot for Chris Sale of the Atlanta Braves on the National League side.
Abbott will also join the NL roster, filling in for Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Caminero entered Tuesday with 21 homers and a .799 OPS in his first full season in the majors. Suarez is tied for the MLB lead in saves.
Abbott is having a career year with seven wins and a 2.15 ERA in 15 starts this campaign.
