Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Chourio is undergoing an MRI. The 21-year-old was sidelined for most of August due to a right hamstring strain.
"Obviously, it's real scary having that hamstring injury to the same leg," Murphy said following the Brewers' 9-3 win, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. "We're hoping it's something he can come back from soon. … It could be devastating."
Chourio sounded a bit more optimistic about his prognosis compared to his manager.
"I'm good," the 21-year-old said, adding that his removal was precautionary, according to McCalvy. "First and foremost, I'm happy we got the win. Physically, I feel good."
Prior to the injury, Chourio became the first player in MLB history to record three hits in the first two innings of a postseason game as the Brewers jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the opening frame.
Chourio went deep 21 times with 78 RBIs, 21 stolen bases, and a .770 OPS over 131 games in the regular season for the NL Central-winning Brewers. He finished third in 2024 NL Rookie of the Year voting.
