Report: Twins don't plan to move Buxton, Ryan, López
The Minnesota Twins don't intend to trade All-Star outfielder Byron Buxton or frontline starters Joe Ryan and Pablo López, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
The Twins want to keep those three players as core pieces for next season, according to Rosenthal, who adds that team officials believe the club has enough talent on its roster to compete in the AL Central.
The front office has some flexibility to make additions through free agency or trades this offseason after getting clarity from ownership, per Rosenthal.
Buxton would've reportedly considered waiving his no-trade clause for certain teams if the Twins continued to gut their roster. Minnesota dealt away 10 players before this year's trade deadline amid a 92-loss season and payroll uncertainty.
Ryan and López have also been in trade rumors dating back to last offseason.
Buxton is still owed $45 million over three years, while Lopez has two years and $43 million left on his contract. Ryan is arbitration-eligible through 2027.
