The Philadelphia Phillies are attempting to bring back another member of last season's club, awaiting a response from catcher J.T. Realmuto and his representation after extending him an offer, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki told Devan Kaney of Sports Radio 94WIP.

The Phillies' reported offer to Realmuto follows their re-signing of Kyle Schwarber and the extension of manager Rob Thomson's contract on Tuesday.

Realmuto is a free agent after spending the past seven seasons with the Phillies, who acquired him from the Miami Marlins before the 2019 campaign.

The 34-year-old has been one of baseball's best backstops during that period, recording the highest fWAR (25.1) and most games played among catchers.

However, Realmuto's performance has declined in recent years, with his OPS dropping in each of the last three seasons. His 91 OPS+ in 2025 marked his lowest output in a decade.

Realmuto entered free agency as one of the top catchers available despite the drop in numbers, and the Phillies have maintained interest in a reunion throughout the winter.
