It's been an exciting week for Alex Bregman, who announced Thursday at his introductory press conference with the Chicago Cubs that he'll play for Team USA at the World Baseball Classic.

Bregman signed a five-year, $175-million contract with the Cubs after spending the 2025 campaign with the Boston Red Sox. The third baseman played his first nine MLB seasons with the Houston Astros.

The 31-year-old owns a career .272/.365/.481 slash line with 209 home runs and 725 RBIs. He's earned three All-Star Game nods and won two World Series championships.

Bregman's announcement came shortly after retired left-hander Clayton Kershaw was added to the star-studded American roster, which also includes Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes, Tarik Skubal, and more.
