Report: Rockies, Quintana agree to 1-year deal

The Colorado Rockies added another veteran pitcher to their staff, as they've agreed to terms on a one-year, $6-million contract with left-hander Jose Quintana, sources told Robert Murray of FanSided.

Quintana, 37, is the third veteran arm to join Colorado's 2026 rotation. The Rockies signed Michael Lorenzen to a one-year deal in January and inked Tomoyuki Sugano to a one-year, $5.1-million deal earlier Tuesday. The three newcomers will join longtime Rockie Kyle Freeland and former top prospect Chase Dollander in the rotation.

The left-hander spent 2025 with the Milwaukee Brewers, who he helped win an MLB-best 97 games. Quintana posted a 3.96 ERA, 4.81 FIP, and 1.29 WHIP with 89 strikeouts over 24 starts for Milwaukee.

The Colombia native is regarded as a consistent innings-eater, having made 30-plus starts in nine of his 14 big-league seasons.

Quintana owns a lifetime 113-110 record with a 3.76 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 1,816 strikeouts across 383 big-league outings with eight teams. He was an All-Star in 2016 with the Chicago White Sox.

Colorado's rotation posted a collective 6.65 ERA in 2025 - the highest by any team in a single season since 1893, when the mound was moved to its current distance of 60 feet, 6 inches.
