Adesanya-Cannonier, Volkanovski-Holloway 3 set for UFC 276

Israel Adesanya will defend his middleweight title against Jared Cannonier in the UFC 276 main event on July 2 in Las Vegas, the promotion announced Saturday.

In the co-headliner, featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will face Max Holloway for the third time.

Adesanya will be looking to retain his belt for the fifth time. He's coming off a unanimous decision win over Robert Whittaker in a rematch at UFC 271 in February.

Cannonier also competed at that event, defeating Derek Brunson by TKO to claim his first UFC title shot. He's won five of his last six outings.

Volkanovski will be seeking his fourth title defense. He defeated Holloway to become champion in December 2019 and then won a narrow rematch in July 2020.

After that, the Australian defeated Brian Ortega in a "Fight of the Year" candidate last September and Chan Sung Jung by fourth-round domination in April.

Holloway has won both his fights since his two losses to Volkanovski, destroying Calvin Kattar and then earning a decision over Yair Rodriguez in November.
