Report: Green, Dawson to fight in Oct. 7 UFC main event

Lightweights Bobby Green and Grant Dawson will headline UFC Fight Night on Oct. 7 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, sources told MMA Fighting's Mike Heck.

Green is coming off a third-round submission win over former interim champion Tony Ferguson at UFC 291 in July. That victory snapped a three-fight winless streak consisting of losses to current 155-pound champion Islam Makhachev and Drew Dober and a no-contest against Jared Gordon.

Dawson will look to remain unbeaten in the Octagon as he competes in his first UFC main event. The 29-year-old holds an 8-0 (1 NC) record in the promotion. He most recently defeated Damir Ismagulov by unanimous decision in July.

Dawson is ranked No. 10 in the division, while Green is unranked.
