Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis won't participate at USA Basketball's training camp next month, and he'll remove his name from consideration for the FIBA World Cup in September, league sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

The six-time All-Star wants to use the offseason to prepare for the upcoming NBA campaign, but he remains committed to playing for the United States at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, according to Haynes' sources.

Davis was initially named to Team USA's 20-player pool in June.

The Kentucky product was a member of America's gold-medal winning squads at the 2012 Olympics and 2014 World Cup.

The World Cup runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15, and the United States is the two-time defending champions.

The Lakers acquired Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans in a long-awaited blockbuster deal this offseason. The 26-year-old averaged 25.9 points, 12 boards, 3.9 assists, 2.4 blocks, and 1.6 steals per contest across 56 appearances last season.
