The long-term fit of Philadelphia 76ers stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons has drawn skepticism, but neither player is buying into the notion that they can't coexist.

"I think it's BS because when you look at the last two years we've been playing together, it was not a problem," Embiid told reporters at NBA All-Star Media Day, including Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer. "The issue is only a problem because, at times, our offense has struggled. ... Just look at the last two years (and) what we've been able to do. I think it can work and it's going to work."

Both Embiid and Simmons have been instrumental in the 76ers' rebuild. Philadelphia has posted back-to-back 50-win campaigns and reached the second round of the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.

However, the Sixers' offense has sputtered in 2019-20, ranking 20th in offensive rating. Simmons' reluctance to attempt 3-pointers has limited Embiid's space in the paint.

"It takes time," Simmons told reporters, including USA TODAY's Mark Medina. "Not everything is supposed to be perfect. Not everything works straight away. We're two different people trying to figure it out.

"I love playing with Joel," Simmons continued. "I think he's an amazing talent. I've got a lot of respect for his game. I know he feels the same way about me. So, as long as we continue to strive and go the right way, we'll be fine."

Philadelphia took down the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday to head into the All-Star break on a three-game winning streak. The Sixers sit fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 34-21 record.
