Report: Budenholzer safe with Bucks, Bledsoe could be traded

A change could be coming to the Milwaukee Bucks - but not behind the bench.

Mike Budenholzer's job as Bucks head coach is safe despite a disappointing playoff exit at the hands of the Miami Heat, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

However, starting point guard Eric Bledsoe is likely to emerge as a trade candidate in Milwaukee. Bledsoe's deal lasts through the 2022-23 season after agreeing to a four-year, $70-million extension in 2019. But rival executives believe the Bucks will target a playmaker and try to improve shooting in the offseason.

The 30-year-old's contract is worth $16.86 million in 2020-21, per Spotrac, which could help the team match any incoming salaries in a potential trade.

Milwaukee expects to attempt a roster overhaul to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay with the club beyond next season. The Bucks intend to offer the reigning MVP a five-year, super-max extension likely worth at least $220 million this offseason, sources told Charania. If Antetokounmpo doesn't sign the deal, the team remains adamant about not trading him to avoid possibly losing him for nothing in 2021.
