Report: Bucks willing to spend into luxury tax to help Giannis

Milwaukee Bucks co-owner and governor Marc Lasry told Giannis Antetokounmpo that the team is willing to spend into the luxury tax to provide him with more help, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The two reportedly held a three-hour lunch meeting on Friday, reflecting on the past season and how the team can improve its roster heading into the 2020-21 campaign.

Lasry and Antetokounmpo are expected to resume talks once the player returns from vacation.

Milwaukee ownership reportedly considered dipping into the luxury tax last offseason depending on how far the team advanced in the playoffs. The Bucks eventually parted ways with starting guard Malcolm Brogdon despite a run to the Eastern Conference finals.

Antetokounmpo will headline the 2021 free-agent class unless he agrees to a long-term extension with Milwaukee. The four-time All-Star is eligible for a super-max deal, which is approximately $220 million to $250 million across five years.

The Bucks are reportedly against the idea of trading their superstar if he doesn't ink an extension. Antetokounmpo has already shot down the possibility of being traded.
