New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart suffered a torn UCL in his right thumb during Thursday's game against the Orlando Magic, the team announced Friday.

He's expected to be out for an extended period, sources told ESPN's Andrew Lopez.

An MRI taken Friday revealed the extent of the injury.

New Orleans is already without Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Steven Adams. The Pelicans reportedly inked veteran guard Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract earlier Friday.

Hart is averaging 9.2 points, eight boards, and 2.3 assists over 47 appearances this season. He's been a key reserve for the Pelicans since being acquired in the Anthony Davis blockbuster deal in July 2019.

Hart produced a standout four-year career at Villanova. The former Big East Player of the Year was a member of the Wildcats' national championship team in 2016, and he earned first-team All-American honors during his senior campaign.
