T-Wolves' Edwards: We handed 1st-round series to Grizzlies

The 2021-22 NBA campaign was a major breakthrough for the Minnesota Timberwolves as they made just their second playoff appearance since 2004.

However, T-Wolves star Anthony Edwards looks at last year's first-round series loss to the Memphis Grizzlies as a missed opportunity.

"Man, I feel like we handed it to them, man. It was like taking candy from a baby, and they took the candy," Edwards told Complex's Zion Olojede. "We had every game won, man, and I don't know what happened. I don't know what happened."

Minnesota held a halftime lead in five of the six opening-round contests. The T-Wolves had a chance to go up 2-1 in the series, but blew a pair of 25-point leads in a monumental Game 3 collapse on their home floor.

Memphis outscored Minnesota by 25 points in the final frame of that same contest, which tied the largest points differential in the fourth quarter of a road game in NBA postseason history, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

The T-Wolves should be in the mix this season for a top-six seed in the West. The club filled a major hole in their defense earlier this summer, acquiring Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz in a blockbuster deal.
