Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid is standing behind head coach Doc Rivers despite the team's third consecutive second-round exit after falling 112-88 to the Boston Celtics in Game 7 on Sunday.

"I think he has done a fantastic job," Embiid said after game, per Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix. "We have gotten better over the years ... he has been a great leader for all of us."

The 76ers have seen tremendous regular-season success under Rivers. They've gone 154-82 over the past three seasons, while Embiid finished second in MVP voting in back-to-back years before winning this campaign.

However, the team has been eliminated in the second round in each campaign under Rivers. The 61-year-old has failed to reach the conference finals in his last 10 playoff appearances overall.

With three former Coach of the Year winners being let go within the last month, the 2000 award recipient may be at risk of being on the chopping block as well. When asked about the possibility of him not returning, Rivers noted that "no one's safe in our business," according to ZagsBlog's Adam Zagoria.

Another Sixer with an uncertain future is James Harden, who offered up a less glowing review of Rivers.

Harden, who can opt out of his $35.6-million player option this summer, said he wants "a chance to compete" next season, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps.
