Report: Butler unwilling to sign extension if traded to Warriors
Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler has informed the Golden State Warriors that he won't sign an extension if dealt to the Bay Area-based club, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
Butler's declaration has ended trade talks for now between the Heat and Warriors, Windhorst adds.
Butler is currently suspended indefinitely for a "disregard of team rules." It was his third team-issued ban of January.
The six-time All-Star reportedly reiterated his trade request last month during a face-to-face meeting with Miami president of basketball operations Pat Riley.
Butler's apparent preference is to be traded to the Phoenix Suns.
The Heat are said to be cautiously optimistic about finding a trade partner for Butler and have reportedly been engaged with several teams.
Butler last played Jan. 21 against the Portland Trail Blazers. He's averaging 17 points, 5.2 boards, and 4.8 assists across 25 appearances this season.
