Mavs' Gafford out for at least 2 weeks with knee sprain
Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford will be sidelined for at least two weeks after spraining his right knee during Monday's loss to the Sacramento Kings, the team announced.
Gafford's injury leaves Dallas severely undermanned in the frontcourt, at least through the All-Star break.
Anthony Davis, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Luka Doncic deal, will reportedly miss several weeks after suffering an adductor strain in his Mavericks debut Saturday. Dereck Lively II still has no return date after suffering a stress fracture on Jan. 14 against the Denver Nuggets. The team is also without center Dwight Powell, who's sat out of Dallas' last 12 contests with a hip strain.
Gafford is averaging 12.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks in 51 games for the Mavericks this season, making 28 starts.
