Heat's Adebayo, Spoelstra unimpressed with refs after loss to Wolves
The Miami Heat weren't happy with the officiating during Friday's 106-104 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In particular, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra voiced his displeasure about a late no-call as T-Wolves forward Julius Randle appeared to make a lot of contact with Bam Adebayo on the Miami center's missed 3-point buzzer-beater.
"Bam got fouled," Spoelstra said, according to the Miami Herald's Anthony Chiang.
He added: "At any point during the game, that's a foul. Did he mean to foul? No. Is that what we wanted? No. But I will tell you this, Bam Adebayo got fouled on that. He got clipped. And if that's in the first quarter, that's a foul."
Adebayo didn't comment specifically on the last play, saying he was "too busy shooting the ball," according to Clutch Points' Zachary Weinberger. However, he did voice his frustration with the communication from the officials.
"It wasn't even about the last play, it was throughout the whole game. ... I don't understand why they think we can't be emotional," Adebayo said, per Weinberger.
He added: "If we have a conversation and it gets heated, it's not because I just want to go at you, it's because shit's happening in the game. Have the decency to look a man in his eyes, not walk away."
Adebayo also added his belief that the officials should be held accountable for their actions just as the players are.
"When you walking away and stuff like that, it's just truly disrespectful, and I feel like stuff should happen when (referees) do that because when we get emotional, we walk away, we get tech'd up, we get fined, and I think that’s crazy," Adebayo added, per Weinberger.
Adebayo contributed a game-high 29 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists in 43 minutes of action Friday.
Miami has fallen to 29-33 after losing in three of its last five games. It still holds the No. 7 seed in the East.
