Report: 76ers ship McCain to Thunder for picks
The Philadelphia 76ers are trading second-year guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
In return, Oklahoma City is sending Philadelphia the Houston Rockets' 2026 first-round pick and three second-rounders.
McCain has struggled to replicate his strong but short-lived rookie season in his second NBA campaign.
His 2025-26 season debut was delayed three weeks after he underwent surgery to repair a ligament tear in his thumb in October. He appeared in 37 games for Philadelphia since, averaging 6.6 points on 38.5% shooting, well below the 15.3 points and 46% shooting he posted through 23 games the season prior. A meniscus tear in his left knee ended his 2024-25 campaign in mid-December.
The second-rounders reportedly headed to Philadelphia are for 2027 and 2028. The 76ers will receive the most favorable 2027 second-round pick between the Thunder, Rockets, Indiana Pacers, and Miami Heart, according to Charania, who adds the two 2028 selections are tied to the Thunder and Milwaukee Bucks.
