Tatum limited participant in practice with Celtics' G League squad
Jayson Tatum took another important step toward returning this season from a torn Achilles tendon.
The Boston Celtics star was assigned to the G League's Maine Celtics to participate in portions of their team practice Monday afternoon, the club announced.
Boston will immediately recall Tatum following the G League affiliate's practice, and he'll continue his rehab with the NBA franchise.
The Celtics didn't provide an updated timetable for Tatum's recovery.
The six-time All-Star tore his Achilles tendon last May in Game 4 of the East semis against the New York Knicks.
Tatum has never ruled out a comeback this season but is being extra cautious with his rehab, recently saying he "wants to get it right the first time."
The 6-foot-8 forward has been taking part in controlled five-on-five scrimmages with coaches, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Boston remained one of the East's top teams with Tatum sidelined. The 34-19 Celtics are tied for second in the conference entering Monday's play.
