The curse of the No. 6 slot hit Texas Tech on Thursday as NC State became the third No. 11 seed to pull off the upset in the Round of 64 with an 80-67 victory.

Duquesne and Oregon both executed the 11-over-6 upset earlier in the day to mark the second time in NCAA Tournament history that those three results happened in the Round of 64.

It's the latest surprising win for the Wolfpack on an incredible stretch after Kevin Keatts' program entered the ACC Tournament needing a deep run just to qualify for March Madness. NC State shockingly ripped off five victories in five days to win the conference crown and snag the automatic bid.

The Wolfpack used a balanced attack to run away from Texas Tech with four players scoring 16 points or more. Ben Middlebrooks led the charge off the bench with 21 points, while Mohamed Diarra had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

NC State will get No. 14 Oakland in the Round of 32 after the Golden Grizzlies stunned No. 3 Kentucky earlier Thursday.
