Young, Polamalu highlight 2019 College Football Hall of Fame class
The National Football Foundation announced the 2019 College Football Hall of Fame class on Tuesday.
Former Texas quarterback Vince Young (2003-05), who led the Longhorns to the national championship in 2005, highlights the collegiate athletes immortalized. USC defensive back Troy Polamalu (1999-02) is another notable name on the list.
Young isn't the only national champion in this group. Former Oklahoma defensive back Rickey Dixon (1984-87) and former Notre Dame kick returner/wide receiver Raghib Ismail (1988-90) also have a championship ring.
John Carroll University (Ohio) had its first-ever College Football Hall of Fame inductee with former linebacker London Fletcher (1995-97).
North Carolina State wide receiver Torry Holt (1995-98), Wisconsin offensive lineman Joe Thomas (2003-06), Arkansas running back Darren McFadden (2005-2007), Arizona State quarterback Jake Plummer (1993-96), and Michigan State running back Lorenzo White (1985-87) also made this year's class.
Florida State defensive back Terrell Buckley (1989-91), Texas A&M defensive lineman Jacob Green (1977-79), and Mississippi linebacker Patrick Willis (2003-06) were also inducted.
Dennis Erickson and Joe Taylor are the two coaches to make the list. They have a career record of 176-96-1 and 233-96-4, respectively. Erickson (two) and Taylor (four) combined for six national championships.
The 2020 class will be announced in January, prior to the College Football Playoff National Championship.
