<p>Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi is in negotiations to become Cal's new head coach, sources told <a href="https://x.com/BruceFeldmanCFB/status/1995990674681069927">Bruce Feldman and Chris Vannini of The Athletic</a>.</p><p>Cal has been looking for a new coach since firing Justin Wilcox on Nov. 23. The move took place after a blowout loss to rival Stanford. The Golden Bears capped their regular season with a 7-5 record following a 38-35 win over SMU on Saturday in Nick Rolovich's debut as the school's interim head coach. </p><p>If Cal and Lupoi reach an agreement, he'll become the latest Oregon assistant to leave Dan Lanning's coaching staff to become a head coach. Ducks offensive coordinator Will Stein agreed to become Kentucky's sideline boss Monday.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>In 2022, Kenny Dillingham - Lanning's former OC - also left for the Arizona State job.</p><p>Oregon was once again one of the nation's most balanced teams in 2025, ranking in the top 10 for scoring on offense and defense. Lupoi's defensive unit allowed only 14.8 points per game this season, an improvement from 19.4 in '24.</p>

"His tenure transformed the program and reset expectations. His time here was filled with memorable victories, a historic run of consecutive bowl appearances, and a commitment to developing young men both on and off the field."</p><p>Stoops - who'd been with the Wildcats since 2013 - went 5-7 in 2025, up from 4-8 in '24. However, Kentucky's season ended with two straight losses, including a 41-0 defeat to rival Louisville on Saturday. The Wildcats ranked a paltry 102nd in points per game this year.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Stoops posted an 82-80 record with Kentucky, including a 10-win 2021 campaign that was later vacated because of NCAA infractions. He's the school's winningest football coach.</p><p>Under his watch, Kentucky won four bowl games and finished in the top 20 of the final AP Poll twice.</p><p>The 58-year-old was signed through June 2031 with an annual salary of $9 million. Kentucky owes him 75% of his remaining salary in a buyout, which is approximately $37.7 million, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/47159529/kentucky-expected-fire-football-coach-mark-stoops">ESPN</a>.</p>

An MRI will determine the extent of the injury Monday.</p><p>Mayfield hurt himself in the second quarter but was able to play through it in the first half. Olson, 62, previously served as the Raiders' offensive play-caller from 2013-14 on Dennis Allen's staff and held the same role under Jon Gruden from 2018 to 2021.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Las Vegas dismissed the 61-year-old Kelly hours after a 24-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns that dropped Las Vegas to 2-9. <p>Jesse Buss addressed the Los Angeles Lakers' decision to fire him and his brother, Joey, from their positions in the front office, saying he wasn't caught off guard by the move.</p><p><span style="margin:0px; padding:0px; text-align:left">The Lakers also <a href="https://thescore.com/news/3403990" target="_blank">dismissed</a> most of their scouting staff Thursday, following a decade in which the Buss brothers served as team scouts.</span></p><p>Jesse revealed that there had been a disconnection between himself and the Lakers' primary stakeholders, his sister and longtime owner Jeanie Buss, and president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"She's fired everyone," Jesse said of Jeanie's dealings with other family members who have worked for the Lakers, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6824062/2025/11/20/lakers-fire-joey-jesse-buss-from-front-office-positions-sources/">The Athletic's Dan Woike and Sam Amick</a>.</p><p>He added, "I kind of felt siloed quite a bit, dating back to before the 2023 draft. And I didn't think much of it, but as time went on and there was a lack of communication between not only my sister and I, but the organization as a whole - while I was combating various health issues. I felt like the writing was on the wall.</p><p>"The sale of the team happening kind of more or less just solidified it in my mind. And I just, more or less expected it."</p><p>The Buss family agreed to sell the Lakers to billionaire Mark Walter at a record valuation of $10 billion in June. The deal became official Oct. 30.</p><p>"I know at times over the last decade, I haven't necessarily always seen eye-to-eye with management and leadership when it comes to certain decisions that were made," said Jesse, who added that he hasn't spoken to Jeanie or Pelinka in five months, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6824483/2025/11/20/lakers-jesse-buss-fired-jeanie-mark-walter">Woike</a>.</p><p>Jesse pointed to poor communication as the reason his relationship with other Lakers executives deteriorated over the years.</p><p>"More or less, you start to hear about what the team is doing through the media as opposed to being told by any member of the front office or organization," he said. "Not having any discussions in regards to player personnel, not communicating outside of my staff about the draft, and ultimately watching decisions made that I wasn't really informed of at the time."</p><p>Jesse added, "Oftentimes within the organization, it kind of felt like I was being treated like I was working against them. And, I guess you could say, like an enemy. But the only thing I ever wanted was the most success for this team. The credit, or whoever was involved with those decisions, it didn't really matter as long as it was the best possible thing for the Lakers."</p><p>Joey, Jesse, and their scouting department helped the Lakers draft multiple key starters in recent years, including <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/96101" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/96101">Austin Reaves</a>. Under their watch, Los Angeles also acquired <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/53163" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/53163">Rui Hachimura</a> - another starter this season - as part of a 2023 trade.</p><p>Joey and Jesse's father, Jerry Buss, originally bought the Lakers in 1979 for $67.5 million. Jeanie assumed control of the iconic NBA franchise in 2017 after a protracted ownership dispute with her brothers. Joey and Jesse will keep their minority ownership shares in the team.</p>

<p>Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the latest rumors about his future Wednesday, again refuting them and reaffirming his commitment to the Longhorns.</p><p>"I'd like to comment on ... something that has been bothering me now over the past few weeks, and that is people reporting that or insinuating that there's a possibility I could leave the University of Texas, and that is absolutely false and untrue. I'm not going anywhere," Sarkisian said, according to <a href="https://x.com/AnwarRichardson/status/1991218760846369043/photo/1">Anwar Richardson of orangebloods.com</a>. "Never do I do this because I never want to be a distraction, so I never address these things. But at this point, I feel like this is important that I do this because it's important for our team."</p><p>He added, "I've had no discussions, not with my agent, not with the university, not with any other school, not with any NFL team about ever going anywhere else. I came here to win championships."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Sarkisian's comments come two days after ESPN College GameDay analyst Desmond Howard shared a video on social media saying Sarkisian and Texas could part ways.</p><p>"Don't be surprised if that Texas job opens up at the end of the season," Howard <a href="https://x.com/DesmondHoward/status/1990517584069079528">said</a>. "Moving forward, when some Joe Blow decides to put something on social media out there, we all don't run with it like it's the gospel."</p><p>Texas entered the 2025 campaign as the nation's top-ranked team, but the Longhorns are 7-3 with two regular-season games left. Sarkisian's outfit ranks 17th in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.</p>
