Report: Auburn to start Thorne vs. Oklahoma
Auburn is set to start quarterback Payton Thorne against Oklahoma on Saturday, a source told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Thorne and Hank Brown were battling for the starting job following Auburn's struggles against Arkansas in Week 4. Thorne entered the 24-14 loss after Brown started the contest and completed 13 of 22 pass attempts for 213 yards, a pair of touchdowns, and an interception.
Thorne, a fifth-year senior, has thrown for 700 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions on 57.1% passing in 2024.
Brown has completed 62.8% of his attempts for 403 yards, six touchdowns, and three picks. All three of his interceptions came against Arkansas.
Thorne opened the season as the starter, but Brown took over the top role for the last two games. The pair have led the Tigers to a 2-2 record this season.
