Is Ryan Lochte lying about his dog's age?
Ryan Lochte's dog, Carter, celebrated his birthday Sunday. How old he turned is a bit of a mystery, though.
9 years ago this handsome son of mine was born. Happy birthday buddy, many more to come! Love you! #mansbestfriend pic.twitter.com/55ddDuTs4u

Lochte had previously said that Carter was eight - a simple mistake, right? However, as one Twitter user pointed out, the Olympic swimmer also referred to his dog as eight years old in both 2014 and 2015.

Lochte stated in last year's birthday tweet that Carter was born in 2007, which would make the 2014 tweet inaccurate. Or maybe Carter was actually born in 2006, and the 2015 tweet is wrong.
Regardless, his tweet generated great reactions:
@wholegrainne @byharryconnolly Lochte can only count in four year segments. It’s strict Olympic rules. The dog is 8 for four years, then 12.

"In dog years, the dog is always 8" - Ryan Lochte's brain, I assume https://t.co/01Yn8eLOn0

What if Lochte's dog died and his family just replaced it ... twice? https://t.co/quxZJnfqBU
